I am still blown away by the smooth sound of the SE420s’ midrange and their ability to cleanly deliver so many different sounds distinctly, so much so that you can pick out each note from a barrage of sound.
When it comes to audio, most people don’t spend enough on headphones.Despite the fact that headphones are actually the ones responsible to make the sound that you hear, the vast majority of the people I see around have cheap $10 earbuds hooked up to an iPod or whatever mp3 player, players that cost hundreds of dollars and which can’t deliver their best sound because of this. With the Shure SE420, this is not the case.

For those that like in-ear earbuds, these are absolutely the best as far as fit and noise isolation. It is like someone took the world’s volume from 100% down to around 20%, its great for being able to hear music in a loud environment. It’s like stepping into a concert when you put them in, minus the crowd and sensations of bass notes coming through the ground.
